Are you ready to plan for 3rd Quarter?
To start, you need to block off a section of time on your calendar that you will be working on this planning (unless of course you are sitting down right now to work on 3rd Qtr).
If you haven’t done so already, head on over the episode where we talk about our 2020 Chill Editorial Calendar. You can grab your FREE Editorial Calendar on that page as well as glean some more information about it.
Let’s get to it!
Add any promotions you have coming up in July, August or September you can enter at the top of the monthly tab that it is taking place. You can also use the Promotions tab to plan more extensive promotions if you need to.
Next fill in the topics for the original content that you will be producing each month. If you are not creating original content, then you really need to add this to your planning. If you would like more information, check out Episodes 10 & 34.
And if you create podcasts or videos, you still need a show notes page (like this one) were search engine crawlers can crawl your content.
Once you have your original content mapped out, you can fill in what you want to cover in your newsletters or emails. Whether you send out bulk emails monthly or weekly or some other frequency, this is a great place to plan what you will include.
First fill in your social posts that will be sharing your original content on the various social platforms. Then you can fill in the other posts with the type of content you want to share. You can fill the cells with as much detail as you want.
Hide or delete the social platforms you don’t use. No sense leaving them up to distract you. You can also reference the holidays we listed at the top (or use the link we share) for each month.
Our Editorial Calendar is nimble
One of the great things about being a small business owner and using our Chill Editorial Calendar is that you can pivot your messaging really easy if something comes up. Don’t feel like once you map out what you will be creating and posting that it can’t be changed. It is all editable!
Allyship Segment of the Week
This week we want to share with you NPR’s podcast, Code Switch. They describe themselves as “…a multi-racial, multi-generational team of journalists fascinated by the overlapping themes of race, ethnicity and culture, how they play out in our lives and communities, and how all of this is shifting.”
I haven’t figured out their posting frequency yet, but it’s more than once a week and less than daily. The stories they share on this podcast are very inspiring and a great resource for educating ourselves on the racial disparities in our country.
Until next time…
