#18 | 5 Traits Of An Accountability Partner

My accountability partner

Do you even need an Accountability Partner?

I would say most small business owners need an accountability partner at some time during running their business. When you don’t have a large team that you work with, it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off of or help you navigate a decision process.

I have had various different types of accountability partners in my life, both personally and professionally. And through these experiences, I have found there are 5 key traits you need to look for in this partner.

1 – Do you click?

Seems simple enough to answer, but you would be surprised how many times someone will “just deal” even if it’s not in their best interest.

2 – Are your businesses on the same level?

Working with someone that is experiencing similar wins and struggles will help you feel supported in your business efforts. Otherwise, one of the players could wind up feeling inadequate.

3 – Can you both help each other?

You definitely don’t want to find yourself with an accountability partner that doesn’t really, well, hold you accountable to anything. You want to make sure this other person is going to keep you on track and vice versa.

4 – Do your levels of intelligence mesh?

Let’s face it, most people may have a hard time communicating with Einstein. So make sure your partner is riding the same brain wavelengths as you.

5 – Do they have the bandwidth to meet on a regular basis?

If you are putting in the effort to move you and your business forward, and willing to help someone else to do the same, then they need to hold up their end of the deal.

Get to know my Accountability Partner

While I definitely get into more details on each of these traits in the episode, I also share my real life examples of my accountability partner, Daphné. And speaking of Daphné, I also mention in the recording a previous episode where I interview her on the magic of Making Money With Live Streams. So, be sure to give that episode a listen too (if you haven’t already heard it).

Daphné is also about to launch a new membership site called the Social Business Cafe Membership. You may want to add your name to the waitlist for this, so you are one of the first to know when it launches!

That’s a wrap for this episode. Until next time…
