Blogging is key to Original Content
A few weeks ago, in our episode on The Importance of Original Content, I shared 3 main types: Blogging, Podcasting and Videos. I also stated that even if you choose Podcasts or Videos, you still needed some form of written text to accompany it, so that search engine crawlers had something to index.
That means, at the end of the day BLOGGING is what we all should be doing. You are reading these show notes pages which accompany our podcast (which is essentially a blog post).
I was so excited to get to sit down and chat with my buddy, Liz Jostes. She is a phenomenal blogger and has been at this for over 10 years. She is the mastermind behind EliRose Social Media, and she generates some serious traffic to her site every week. She even shared that her individual blog pages get more traffic than her homepage.
Doing it all yourself
Liz shares some tips on how a small business owner can manage doing all the work to get blog posts published for their business. We know it can be overwhelming, so her advice can really help!
Next we discuss how to determine what topics to write about. You would be surprised how you can easily come up with a year’s worth of content! A great way to map out all these ideas is to use our 2019 Editorial Calendar.
Liz has an article all about 9ish Ways to Distribute 1 Blog Post, which can help you learn how to get the word out about your blog posts as you publish them (and using our EC will keep you organized). She has also shared her Blog Post Publishing Process as well.
SEO is a key component of Blogging
Liz talks about how to write content with SEO a driving force behind how you present the content. Referencing things like evergreen content and how do people search for topics. And what to do if you are not a good writer! She also has another great article called SEO Keyword Research: What To Do & Not To Do With It, which can help you get started with SEO for your own blogs.
She also references Lumen5 in this episode as well. And guess what….she wrote a blog post about using this great tool too: Turn Blog Posts Into Videos Using Lumen5.
Here is where you can find Liz and her business, EliRose Social Media, on social:
